The following response has been sent to Sout East Radio in reply to Regnums written statement that was read out on air on 12th May 2026;

We welcome Regnum’s engagement by means of a prepared statement to South East Radio, read out on Wednesday morning.

That said, it is nothing more than corporate PR waffle. They speak at length about community engagement, however the experience of our community is at complete odds to the picture they paint… They claim to have made contact with 119 homes located close to the proposed wind farm since the project started in 2023. As a result of this claim, in their statement they have had 67 direct interactions with property owners. There are over 2,000 residents within 3kms of the wind farm. As a voluntary group formed only two months ago, No to Kilmichael Wind Farm have collected 350 petition signatures, launched a dedicated website, erected 200 road signs, have a Whatsapp group with 360 members and have had two excellently attended public meetings. That is what public engagement looks like. They tell us that a dedicated full – time, on-the-ground, community liaison officer was appointed by them in 2024. The vast majority of residents didn’t know about his existence until March this year. The reality is that this is nothing more than another box – ticking exercise for Regnum as this officer has proved completely out of his depth and unable to answer questions posed to him. We would welcome this officer to a community meeting or to a head-to-head interview with one of our representatives on the radio.

In their statement, they describe in full their feasibility study which identifies Kilmichael Hill as a suitable site for a wind farm. They fail to mention that the area has been categorised by Wexford County Council’s Wind Energy Strategy as an area unsuitable for further wind farm development. There was no public consultation carried out as part of their feasibility study or mentions of the high population in the area. In their statement, they talk about the Community Benefit Fund and potential rates income for the local authority. Amazingly, and of great concern, they show a complete lack of empathy to the overpowering health concerns of local residents by failing to mention them. As a group, we have had a lot of interactions with other wind farm groups and there is a common theme developing of insufferable misery where turbines are located close to where people live. Additionally, they fail to mention the issue of sterilisation of land, whereby local people will be unable to get planning permission for homes for their children in the future. Regnum’s company slogan is “Building a better world”. In reality, it is a company where the only thing that matters is the bottom line. Why are they repeatedly ringing residents close to the turbines offering them more and more money to buy their silence? We know of one couple where Regnum officials are ringing both the husband and wife on an almost daily basis.

Finally, and amusingly, Regnum submitted a mobile number to South East Radio which the company encouraged people to ring. Our committee has been informed by numerous residents that this number is invalid!

Yours Sincerely,

Michael McGovern, No to Kilmichael Wind Farm

NotoKilmichaelwindfarm committee members Mick McGovern and Chris Montague appeared on South East Radio with Alan Corcoran on 11th May. You can listen here:.

The purpose was to highlight the issues with the porposed development across the south east. South East Radio read out Regnums statement in response on the 13th May and you can hear that here:

Thankyou to everybody that attended the community meeting last night, what a turn out. Around 250 people. For those who couldn’t make it, a lot of time was taken up by our guest speakers (a bit more than we had planned!) and some great Q&A’s. There were two presentations on the night. The first included a recap of the proposals, what’s been going on and new details of the number of houses at different distances. The second presentation was on the difficult subject of finance. To continue and to be successful we need money to engage professional help. The costs are high. We must pull together to do this. If each of us donate a fiver (or more if you can manage it) by weekly standing order, the equivalent of a (nice!) cup of coffee, we can do this the best way. The money will be carefully controlled and used, we will have strict governance over the finances, we promise you that. All the details of how to contribute are here

Community Meeting 11th May The committee would really appreciate it if you could spread the word to those neighbours who are still not aware or up to speed on our campaign - 'No to Kilmichael Windfarm', and let them know about our upcoming Information Night on Monday 11th May at 8pm in the Amber Springs. It's absolutely vital that we have EVERYONE who lives within 3km (and beyond) in attendance. Remember, we are all in this together.

We want to inform the community of the huge amount of work that has already been done to win our fight, the challenges that lie ahead, as well as give you the opportunity of listening to some guest speakers on the night who have been through it all before. Put it in your diary!

Thanks, and see you in the Amber on the 11th

Our storey appears on The Independent news website; Wexford residents vow to fight in the ‘strongest possible terms’ to stop proposed eight-turbine wind farm

21st April 2026

Wikipage updated with the latest drone photomontage shots of the proposed turbines including images from Monaseed Village, Craanford Village, from the Carnew Road and looking towards Mount Saint Benedict, Mount Nebo. These images, like the existing ones, demonstrate what a shocking visual effect the turbines would have on our landscape.

Our fight against the wind turbines makes front page news in the Gorey Guardian

The first phase of the road signage has been deployed around the community. More to come at the end of the week.

We are looking at making posters available to those who want to erect them around their locale. In the meantime here are the two for download if you want to print them off to put in the window. Just right click on the image and copy or save to your computer.

16th April 2026

The second community meeting will take place on Monday 11th May at 8.00pm in the Amber Springs Hotel in Gorey. The second meeting of the committee took place yesterday. Printing of leaflets, petitions and posters is complete. Over the next week or so volunteers of the No To Kilmichael Wind Farm group will be calling to homes in the area to distribute the information leaflets and collect support for the petition. Extensive talks with other community groups around the country have been concluded with a lot of very useful information gathered which will help our community approach to fighting the development. Raising the necessary finance for the campaign was also discussed at length and proposals for this will be developed by the recently formed Finance committee.
A further public meeting will be held in the next few weeks, the details of which will be made public when available. Guest speakers from other community groups are being invited and will share their experiences at the meeting.

9th April 2026

A new finance committee has been formed. Development of media/printed material for distribution is complete. Discussions with other wind farm community groups around the country are ongoing. Updates and changes to the website completed to make more phone friendly.
